All braids are not the same. In fact, there is a large diversity in braid construction. Without getting into a dissertation on braid construction, there are a few things that should be known about the braid you select and choose to fish with.
Braid, as the name suggests, is the linking of several threads to make a singular line. In this application braid can be made from less or more threads and this changes the shape, strength and application of the final product. Next time you go into a tackle shop ask to feel an array of braids from different manufacturers and you’ll notice some are soft while some are stiff, some are rough while some are smooth, and other differing characteristics.
While different braids have a different application on their day, TactX is one we’d like to discuss. BD Outdoors Pro Contributor Mike Murciano gives us a breakdown in this video and discusses the benefits of TactX for the Southern California Bight inshore fishery.
